‘You expected too much of me,’ I told him, and he bowed his head. ‘I don’t know where you brought your grand ideas of men and women from. I don’t want to know,’ I added hastily.
‘But it must have been a prettier world than this,’ I said: ‘are you quite sure that you were wise leaving it?’

It might be impractical to seek out a new romance
We won’t know the actual if we never take the chance
I’d like to collapse with you and ease you against this song
I think we’re compatible, I see that you think I’m wrongBut, any time will do, my love
Any time will do, no choice of words will break me from this groove
Any time will do, my love
Any time will do, what choice of words will take me back to you?Your love makes a fool of you, you can’t seem to understand
A heart doesn’t play by rules and love has its own demands
But I’ll be there to take care of you if ever you should decide
But you don’t want to waste your life in the middle of a lovesick lullaby.

See I notice nothing makes you shatter, you’re a lover of the wild and a joker of the heart
But are you mine?
I wanna make you happy
I wanna make you feel alive
Let me make you happy
I wanna make you feel alive at night
I wanna make you happy,
are you a good girl through the night?

Let her be lonely. Let her believe that no one in the world truly understands her. Give her the freedom to fall in love with the wrong person, to lose her heart, to have it smashed and abused and broken. (…) Let her have secrets. (…) Let her make mistakes. (…) Let her sit outside at night under the stars. Give her a flashlight to write by. (…) Love her, and let her go.

Don’t you ever overthink love. Ever. If you love an artist - if you love a writer, don’t you ever get to flattered about all this stories that surely were written about you. Writers put the weight in their own hearts with words, they just fill it till the top, make it heavier and bigger than the feeling itself and writers, they usually have a blind sense of selfishness therefore half of the huge and unforgetable and breathtaking love that they felt is alone - they love alone, the live love alone, even when together. And it’s not a lack of you, it’s just a lot of them.

The sea is a long, long way from me
I’d go there if I had the time
But lying here will do just fine.

Just look at yesterday, and what you were doing, and how important it was, and how nonexistent it is now! How dreamlike it is! Same thing with tomorrow. So where are we living? (…)
Five thousand years from now—let’s say we didn’t find the God particle. We’re still looking. I think we probably won’t be making things of the nature that we are now. I think we’ll just be trying to appreciate things more. (…) We’ll be able to be in the present more effectively. We’ll be able to use our senses, because art, in a way, is stuff that teaches you to use your senses. Works of art are just ways to pay attention to different things, and to appreciate what is there, and more and more art is like that. Rather than creating more stuff.

If somebody says “I love you” to me, I feel as though I had a pistol pointed at my head. What can anybody reply under such conditions but that which the pistol holder requires? “I love you, too.”

She had fallen in love so many times that she began to suspect she was not falling in love at all, but doing something much more ordinary.

- Give it ten years and I’ll just be another woman you got tired of fucking.
- You know, in ten years you might very well be the love of my life.

Sometimes love is not enough and
the road gets though, I don’t know why
Keep making me laugh, lets go get high
The road is long, we carry on
Try to have fun in the meantime
Take a walk on the wild side
Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain
You like your girls insane, so
Choose your last words, this is the last time
Cause you and I, we were born to die
